Mr. Onyejekwe started his Journey to Alley Burger from humble beginnings in the historic Old Town East neighborhood of Columbus Ohio. Michael gravitated to the entertainment and service industry with great vitality.
Starting as a concert promoter, he quickly worked his way to owning a nightclub and broke into the food hospitality service when he was a part-owner in a small hotdog restaurant; with all of this success, he wanted to say more through his food and service.
He wanted to leave a lasting impression on the food culture that would represent Columbus Ohio in an artistic fashion. His goal was to create a place where people could come from all over and say they tasted Columbus, Ohio’ culture at its best, with a taste of entertainment.
Alley Burger seems to be just that.
His 4 kids, Christhony, Chris-Anthony, Christhon, and Anthony Jr. are his biggest motivation, they keep him focused on what’s next to come.
As a child, Anthony would learn cooking techniques from his great grandmother “Cookie” and his mother, Jesteen. He learned different marinades, how to fry chicken, soups, sauces, casseroles, and many assorted desserts. At that point in time, Anthony realized his passion for food and would soon start his journey on a road to becoming a high caliber and well-respected Chef.
As Anthony became older, he became more skilled and driven in the kitchen. Anthony enrolled in the Chef Apprenticeship program at Columbus State University studying under Chef Keith Griffea, Chef Kevin Arens, and Chef David Tetzloft. Anthony has competed in many cooking competitions and is a proud member of the ACF (American Culinary Federation).
After landing many positions in the kitchen, Anthony finally found his permanent culinary home as Executive Chef with the Alley Burger Restaurant located at 26 N. High St (rear) Columbus, Ohio 43215. He plans to bring modern international and cultural cuisine to the Columbus scene.
